H-JAIA’s new 17,000 square foot K9/Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) facility expands capacity of personnel and apparatus to better serve and respond to airside incidents. It consists of three apparatus bays, administration offices, EOD workshops, indoor/outdoor K9 service dog kennels and robot training area. With glazing at both public and private areas, the LEED facility is designed to maximize lighting and views without compromising secure operations. K9 kennels and training areas are designed to meet best practice standards for service-dog comfort, sanitation and interaction control. FC developed and applied the new H-JAIA form and finish guidelines for stand-alone buildings, setting the standard for all ancillary structures without exceeding their target construction budget.
