BEXAR STREET REDEVELOPMENT
INVESTMENT CENTER

The Bexar Street Redevelopment Investment Center was developed to be a multipurpose space for learning, community, and public safety.

We designed a systematic space comfortable for work, training, events, and community engagement. The process began with several community meetings to garner public input and ensure the facility would meet the needs of the City, the Police Department and the community they serve.

One side of the Center accommodates community meetings, lectures, art exhibits, and other gatherings. The other side is a Dallas police substation with space for 25 officers, a city prosecutor, code enforcement, and the fire inspector. A steel sculpture designed by a local artist stands as the centerpiece of the public park in front of the building, part of the Public Art Initiative of the City.

The expansive glass walled facade creates an approachable entry for the public, while a separate, secure entry for the police can be found along another side of the building. Sustainability was prioritized during the development to ensure best practices and adherence to the City of Dallas stormwater guidelines. Upon completion, the project received LEED Gold®.‍
